What it is for
When you have more than a few dozen fixed assets, calculating depreciation by hand is slow and error-prone. From the in-service date, cost and useful life, the spreadsheet calculates monthly depreciation, the accumulated amount and the net book value at any date, and builds a monthly schedule for the year.
What is inside
- "Settings": the calculation date, the schedule year and the fixed asset groups.
- "Register": up to 300 assets — inventory number, group, in-service date, cost, useful life, disposal date, depreciation, net book value, wear and status.
- "Depreciation sheet": depreciation for each asset for each month of the chosen year and the annual total.
- "Summary": figures by group, accumulated depreciation and net book value, monthly charges and a chart.
Who it is for
Accountants and managers of small organizations, sole traders, facilities managers and anyone who needs working fixed asset records in a spreadsheet.
Compatibility
Excel 2007 and later, LibreOffice. No macros. Only the straight-line method is implemented. Useful lives and groups are set by the rules that apply to you; the calculation is indicative and does not replace accounting or tax records. The file is in English.
